General Description and Missions:


Determine and lead the MLS BL Ambition Boost deployment related competitiveness initiatives in order to improve the end-to-end efficiency and cost of MLS solutions deployment (labor, material, subcontractor) across all MLS Domains and Bids & Projects countries.
Define, structure and prioritize the Deployment Competitiveness Initiatives of MLS BL to support short term bid success and long term sustainable and continous competitiveness improvement.
Build and foster a global network of deployment leaders and functional stakeholders across the organization to facilitate the competitiveness objectives.

Position within organisation:

TheMLS BL Deployment Competitiveness Leader reports to :
• The MLS BL VP Operations & Competitiveness
The MLS BL Deployment Competitiveness Leader leads a network of deployment leaders and teams across the MLS Organisation consisting of nine Domains across Europe and selected relevant Bids & Projects countries world-wide.

Context & Position within Company:

MLS business is strongly European centric with some larger turnkey projects outside Europe (primarily Middle East and Africa)

Areas of responsibility and assignments:

MLS BL related general activities:

  • Create, maintain and strengthen a MLS Deployment Manager Network across MLS Domains and relevant Bids & Projects countries in order to foster exchange of practises and lessons learned, to harmonize and improve standard ways of working, to improve deployment subcontractor selection and management process in close cooperation with Procurement and Project- and Contract Management, to improve end to end cable management, etc..

  • Promote the MLS BL Standard Work Breakdown Structure relative to solution deployment and ensure, that bid and project teams and related functional leaders follow the same interpretation in order to identify utmost deployment efficiency from project design to customer acceptance.

  • Foster upstream product and project design teamwork to optimize solutions for deployment either as MLS standards where possible or within specific bids and projects

  • Work together with other GBU's in order to leverage on the global deployment activities and best practises for the competitiveness improvement. Represent the Business Line deployment related working groups and steering comittees and ensure, that necessary decisions are being prepared as needed

  • Challenge continously existing deployment related practises and tools within the MLS solution portfolio, processes and organization.

  • Push "left shift" activities related to deployment with business development / sales, product management and procurement

  • Support Product, Bid and Project Conventions with installation and deployment expertise

  • Cooperate strongly with other Competitiveness Leaders and coordinate activities with other deployment related improvement initiative leaders to ensure consistency, coherence and effectiveness of improvement initiatives

  • Ensure that MLS needs are reflected in the procurement strategy by working closely with the Thales procurement organization namely the head of MLS Procurement and his/her network as well as the Category Buyers for Installation and Civil Works.

Impact:

  • He/she drives teams and initiatives having an impact on the solution deployment, in order to increase the competitiveness / profitability.

Nature of Communication:

  • He/she plays a key role in terms of networking and communication within MLS' Operations Network as well as all key functions contributing to efficient deployment such as for example Procurement, B&P, Engineering and Technical Directorate, Product Policy and Development, etc..

Innovation and Complexity:

  • He/She has a vast experience in project deployment of transportation turnkey projects and a solid understanding of transportation solutions in order to moderate teams towards innovative and out of the box solution finding.

Qualifications and experience:

Technical Skills:

  • Along with an Engineering Degree, the successful candidate has a solid experience in project deployment of transportation turnkey projects in foreign countries involving multi-national and multi-disciplinary cooperation
    and team-work, with experience in installation of service-providers

  • Background in engineering / technical matters and transportation turnkey deployment and transportation construction projects

  • Understanding of the BL business model and of products’ & project lifecycles

  • Long term vision of product or project relative to deployment practises

  • Bid and Program management understanding and competencies

  • Bring solution added value to moderate teams and capture innovation

Soft Skills:

  • Capability to manage by influencing and to convincing

  • Open minded (listen, share ideas) and bring added value / capture innovation

  • Able to animate an international, multi-cultural and multi-diciplinary network

  • Able to manage conflicts / solve issues

  • Be agile (adapt in a complex environment, multi-cultural aspect open )

  • Communicate efficiently verbally and in writing

  • Able to deliver in high-pressure context

  • Able to develop strong network and team spirit

  • Able to give a vision as well as to synthetize a global view of a complex problem

Language:

  • Fluent in English (verbally and in writing) is mandatory
