Main Role (System Engineering Manager - Solution):

•          To guarantee satellite System Engineering activities management in the frame of TLC solutions and systems, in all phases of a space project life cycle, from concept definition, design specification to manufacturing, integration,  verification phases, up to operations.

•          To define the complete Space Segment Architecture, Satellite configuration and sub-systems concepts and definition, Satellite budgets..

Responsibilities

As complement of SEM General description:

  • To Ensure System Engineering activity management, within constraints provided by the agreed architecture and design policy in order to satisfy customer requirements, and ensures global development consistency
  • To identify, or contribute to the identification of,WBS, OBS and associated project tasks, tailoring development process and ensuring achievement of the development baselines (functional, allocated and product),
  • To manage Risks & Opportunities of design and development during bid and early design phases,
  • To guarantee the proper coordination of Solution/System/Payload Architects in capturing Satellite and Space Segment requirements, assess achievable system performance of  architectures, identify improvement opportunities as well as performing  requirements flow-down, from customer specification down-to equipment requirements
  • To lead the preparation of review design documentation
  • To provide primary technical interface of IVVQ Manager , to guarantee the consistency between design and IVVQ activities
  • To support the anomaly management process through anomaly reviews, corrective action development and payload performance analysis
  • To participate in AIV/AIT reviews and satellite test activities

Experience / Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent, with a specialization which includes Space Mission, Satellite and  Launcher engineering,
  • >3 years related work experience in engineering work,  in Satellite System and Space Mission projects
  • Evaluation of the Satellite environments: mechanical, thermal, radiative, EM...
  • Definition of Space Segment interfaces as Space-GND, launcher,
  • Analyses to identify Spacecraft concepts to respond to the mission requirements.
  • Preparation of justification report for the selected options in terms of compliance to the applicable requirements, technical feasibility, complexity, cost, critical technologies and compliance to the programmatic requirements and assumptions.
  • Excellent English communications skills both written and oral
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and systems
  • Ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines
  • Good analytical, organizational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies
  • Great team working attitude
  • INCOSE Certification is a plus
  • Availability to work at Customer premises in Vigna di Valle for at least 50% of yearly working days is a valuable asset

Skills

  • Knowledge of Satellite Sub-Systems concepts and architectures including Attitude and Orbit Determination and Control, Structure and Mechanisms, Thermal Control, Electrical Power and Energy, Command and Data Handling, Communications, Propulsion
  • Analyse and trade-off options, analyse and define concepts and implementation;
  • Analyse development status and outline critical areas and required technology development;
  • Analyse failure tolerance and propose redundancy concept;
  • Outline interfaces between different sub-systems;
  • Capability to establish, conduct trade-offs and parametric analysis,  and  based on the outcome define the spacecraft sub-system baseline
