An Obsolescence Management Engineer is required to join the team in Crawley. As an Obsolescence Management Engineer you will work within the Through Life Support Engineering (TLSE) team and carry out Component Engineering and Obsolescence activities.

Key duties:

  • Undertake day-to-day Component Engineering & Obsolescence activities
  • Perform Component Engineering & Obsolescence tasks supported by the team
  • Identify replacement and alternative parts to meet project/customer reliability, safety and legislative requirements
  • Liaise closely with all aspects of engineering.
  • Provide sound technical advice, assistance and guidance in connection with identifying technologies, manufacturers and suppliers
  • Support projects in the selection of parts for new designs
  • Liaise with internal departments including Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Test

Skills and experience required:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in an electronic engineering discipline or relevant experience
  • Able to interpret manufacturer’s datasheets, national & international standards
  • Understanding of analogue and digital electronics down to component level
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical component both active and passive
  • Understanding of REACH/RoHS/Conflict Materials
  • Fast learner, adaptable, ability to work in a team and on your own
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good IT skills, including the use of Microsoft applications and use of databases

In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
